Description

The international open competition subject was to “re-think”, connect and expand, with large multifunctional venues, the existing city contemporary art museum, located in the restored old “Peroni” beer factory.

Our proposal was quite simple, flexible and radical at the same time:

Exibition

A contemporary space for the exposition of art it is neither a simulation of urban reality nor does it imply the autonomy of the black box. The project instead seeks to provide an appropriate and protective space for the production, exhibition and experiencing of art.

Mono-space

At the core of the addition is the spazio unico - the “mono-space.” A light skin encloses the singular space; within, it is composed of three separate territories.  It includes an entrance foyer, a zone for contemporary art, and an “event space.”

Site

The singular space is a milieu of discrete architectural impact. A set of spatial, technical and perceptional layers qualifies and distiguishes the various atmospheres.

Flexibility

Programatic flexibility is achieved through the creation of generous spatial units and the use of an intentionally open inner partition strategy.
