Description
The aim of the project is to redevelop the urban space between the railway station and the entrance to the historic center, with the purpose of creating a new central meeting place for all the citizens of Conegliano: the new Piazza Giosuè Carducci
In order to create a spatial identity, our proposal try to define and underline the trapezoidal public space.
Through the parallel strip design of the new floor, and the radial organization of the street furniture and trees, the project underlines and rectify the existing characteristics of the urban structure:
- the axis and the "perspective" that connects the entrance of the railway station to Piazza Cima, through the passage of the Scalinata degli Alpini steps.
- the divergence of the two current opposite and heterogeneous urban fronts.
Inside the new large square, which will keep its natural main function of connection and walk promenade, the green areas and the "ribbon" benches will delimit more intimate areas that will allow for seating, meetings, and playing; and will define, in a more organized way, the areas dedicated to commercial activities (bar and restaurant tables).
The entire pedestrian area will remain very flexible, allowing for the possibility of recurring events (such as the weekly market) or extraordinary ones (such as concerts, the city expo, the Christmas village, etc.).
